Sezon Museum of Modern Art
Sezon Museum of Modern Art is a modern art museum, displaying various post-war and modern art pieces by both Japanese and foreign artists. The museum originally opened in Tokyo, Ikebukuro, but then moved to Karuizawa in 1981. Their collection includes more than 500 art pieces from Europe, Japan, and U.S. Many famous artists’ work, such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Jasper Jones, Sam Francis, and Andy Warhol, are exhibited in this collection. Special exhibitions are held in the museum as well.
Notes : Photo-taking is not allowed in the museum.
Sezon Museum is also known for its natural surroundings around the main building. The museum is surrounded by an elegant forest, blending the nature with art work to create ” The Garden of Art Voyage”. The greenery and a stream of river provide a perfect setting for the sculptures that are displayed in the garden. Visitors can take a walk along the pathway and enjoy the relaxing environment.
